1978 Harley Ironhead Sportster
"Shovelhead" from Hampton, IL, United States made available these pictures of his 1978 Harley XLCH Sportster which has a 1000cc Harley Ironhead motor.
This Harley Sportster is a completely rebuilt bike. All work was done by Terry Noth of Performance Cycle Center LeClaire Iowa. The frame was raked to 36 degrees and powder coated. The fork tubes were lowered and 1972 FLH shocks were installed at the rear to lower the bike to a seat height of 25 inch.
That's a Mustang Gunfighter seat.
The paint colors are black cherry metallic and white pearl coat.
Pinstripes are black cherry and gold.
Both rims were rebuilt with Buchanan spokes. Front wheel has a chrome rim and twisted spokes.
The rear wheel has a polished rim with straight spokes.
The 1978 Ironhead motor was completely rebuilt.
Performance upgrades included headwork port and polished heads, oversized Manley valves,
stroker crank, S&S super B carburator.
The transmission was rebuilt with all new Andrews gears.
Electronic upgrades included a Dyna S electronic ingnition coil and Dyna high output electronic voltage regulator.
