1958 Harley XL Ironhead Sportster
Kathy from Florida, United States made available to us these photographs of her classic 1958 Harley XL Ironhead Sportster.
Kathy: "My name is Kathy and I have owned and kickstart My 58 for 11 years. I will admit, I had trouble at first trying to kickstart her, but once I got use to how she likes to be started and believe me they all are different, I had NO PROBLEM. I only weighed 110 lbs so you could imagine the crowd I drawn at Daytona Bike Week.
My Husband and I have been riding side by side for a long time. He owns a 1968 XLCH, kicker also. We have owned other bikes, but there's nothing like a good OLD HARLEY. The way it feels on a old bike in the wind is different, and only people who ride the old ones know what I am talking about."
Kathy: "I had back Surgery in 2005 and thought that I would'nt be able to ride MY 58, so I advertised it for sale. I went out and cleaned it up and was just getting sicker about selling it, after I got it cleaned up put fresh gas and spark plugs, I give it a couple of prime kicks and turned on the key and kicked and it FIRED RIGHT UP!
I took her for a ride and said thats it, I came back home walked in the door, went straight to Ebay and instantly took it off the Market. I thought how stupid am I, I could never sell MY 58.
SO IM BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN. THANK GOD FOR THE FREEDOM I FELT THAT DAY.
Thank you HARLEY-IRONHEAD.COM for letting me share my story."
